Oh be careful, little eyes

"The world is not ending today. It is just being rebooted. Please be sure your security software is up to date. I saw this quote this afternoon and it seemed to just go along with this weekend's "impending rapture" and our message this morning. We've been studying the book of 1 Corinthians (for years actually) and for the past several weeks, we've been talking about there being no resurrection. False teachers had come in and caused some to change their views on Christ's return. "If there isn't a resurrection, why do we suffer daily? Why not just eat, drink, and be merry? We'll die tomorrow anyway!" This was the thinking of some of the Corinthians because they had allowed their minds to be overtaken by false teachers.

I'm aware that wrong thinking creeps in. I know that have to be careful, but when we let our guard down, it creeps in without us knowing it's there. We have to be ever vigilant in what we allow our minds to absorb. How many people were sucked into this erring pastor's teaching that the rapture was taking place this weekend? How hard was it for some of them to be convinced? He clearly was wrong according to Scripture - "But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone." Matthew 24:36  Yet some people were very sure yesterday was the end of the earth!

Spend time each day, quality time, reading God's precious word and praying to Him, communing with Him! Set a hedge about your eyes & ears. Be vigilant, knowing that Satan seeks to sift us wheat; devour us. Rest in knowing that Christ will return when God the Father says to! In the meantime, we are in perilous times and have to be more vigilant than ever ... once the fruit starts to rot, it's over. A piece of clean laundry doesn't clean the dirty clothes hamper, but the dirty clothes corrupt that clean piece. Wrong thinking works like yeast and slowly takes over.

I am so thankful for where God has placed me! I am thankful for the Godly man He has put at the pulpit at Salem Bible Church! I am truly thankful that He intervened when I would have left and gone to another church where the whole council of God wouldn't be preached. Week by week, I am reminded of God's blessings.
